It is a privilege to present to you the Dove
Award Winning soloist Babbie Mason who will propel you into the presence
of God. Babbie sailed with us to Alaska in 2005, and she is back by popular
demand!
The fact that Babbie Mason has become one of the most exciting Christian artists in the nation has
not changed her down to earth approach to life, or her warm personality.
Even though her award winning music is heard on radio and television worldwide
and her workds appear in the church hymnal, her feet are firmly planted.
When Babbie is asked to talk about her life's accomplishments, she would
find it difficult to boast that a host of Dove and Stellar nominations
line her wall.
In fact, she has reaped two Dove Awards, one
for Musical of the Year, MAKE US ONE, and another for Gospel Recorded
Song of the Year, STOP BY THE CHURCH. She would not think to tell you
that she has graced the platform with dignitaries such as Presidents Carter,
Bush and Ford, performers such as Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Homecoming
Friends, and preachers such as Pastor Jim Cymbala and Dr. Billy Graham.
She would find it difficult to boast about being a part of the WOMAN OF
FAITH tour. Never would she brag that such noted artists as Larnelle Harris,
CeCe Winans and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir have all recorded her compositions.
And she wouldn't readily admit that she penned the award-winning classic, ALL RISE, the most recorded song in 1986-1987. However,
Babbie Mason would find it rather easy to talk about her commitment and
love for God, her family and the church.
Like so many female vocalists that precede her, Babbie began her music
education and experience in the church. It is there that she allowed the
seeds of faith to be planted and nurtured, and it is there that she has
stayed to bear fruit. With five generations of preachers and pastors in
her lineage, this preacher's daughter and Jackson Michigan native says,
I don't remember a time that I didn't love the Lord. It was easy to fall
in love and commit to Christ. I watched my parents. Babbie's parents,
Reverend George and Georgie Wade, served as pastor and wife in one church
for nearly forty years. Shortly after giving her life to Christ at the
age of nine, Babbie began serving as church pianist and choir director
and did so for sixteen years. It was there that Babbie experienced first-hand,
the joys of leading others in worship. Today Babbie's singing and songwriting
efforts have produced more than fifteen recordings and an abundance of
timeless compositions that are embraced by the church worldwide.
This dedication to the Lord serves as a firm foundation in her home.
Husband Charles works full-time with Babbie as administrator, and road
manager. The Masons enjoy working together and consider themselves perfect
examples of how God can use a husband and wife team to compliment each
other's strengths and weaknesses. Babbie says "Our differences have
proven to be the strength in our relationship both at home and on the
road.”
This former middle high school music and English teacher
brings that unique ability to better others to the worship experience.
Babbie is an excellent communicator, combining wit, charm and inspiration.
It has been said, "Babbie didn't quit teaching school, her classroom
just got bigger." Whether it is through her singing, public speaking
opportunities, or songwriting, Babbie seeks to encourage believers to
develop an intimate relationship with Christ.
Babbie adds yet another talent to her list of talents
as a singer, songwriter, college professor and talk show host. In her
second book, FaithLift, she encourages one to step out from under the
oninous cloud of doubt and fear that perhaps keeps the heart paralyzed.
With transparent honesty, Babbie touches the deep places of the soul with
heartwarming stories and real life experiences challenging the reader
to rely on the truths of God's word in spite of how they may feel.
Babbie continues to do her best to meet the demands
of a full-time ministry and a changing family. But she does not intend
to do it alone. She is totally dependent upon the Lord for strength to
carry out the task at hand. At home, in cities all over the United States
or abroad, in countries such as Nigeria, Uganda, Japan, or Belgium, God
alone is the reason for the zeal exhibited in her life and the timeless
appeal found in her songs. When you meet Babbie Mason, you will meet a
new friend who is full of life, with a contagious love for God, family
and church.
